Seismic protection by rocking with superelastic tendon restraint

چکیده
This article introduces an innovative system for enhancing the seismic performance of a structure through facilitating large rotational (rocking) motion to occur without risking overturning. The innovation this study is in use tendons consisting Nickel-Titanium (superelastic) alloy connected series with steel impose partial restraints when experiencing rocking motion. Importantly, fully recoverable. Existing installations which can be made rock may also retrofitted device improving its resistance. original contributions are derivation, and experimental validation, analytical model simulating that has been fitted restraining device. In parametric employing newly developed modelling techniques, major trends response behaviour have identified.
